Week 2 - You and your media diet
First things first -
We have to talk about what is important:
Here is the trailer for Dogma
Here is the trailer for Full Metal Jacket.
Warning - this is intense. I saw it on an Air Force Base when it came out. Seeing it years later, and wars later, it gets harder and harder to watch. It is also the great director Stanley Kubrick (The Shining, Eyes Wide Shut, Clockwork Orange, 2001 Space Odessy) so it is worth watching for the art of it.
Okay, time to get to the lesson for this week.
What does your day look like?
This is social media use in 2020 - this is more current and it is interesting to compare.
Read through this discussion of your media diet
Now watch this TED talk from this student who changed the way she interacts with social media.
Write down any questions you might have about what you are reading and encountering. This is called engaging with the material.
Get in the habit of questioning everything you encounter - not to be combative but to get in the habit of digging deeper.
We will discuss your answers in class on Thursday.

Is there a way we can turn that around? Maybe fix social media so that it can bring more positive than negative. If so hoe would we be able to do that? What factors would we have to eliminate and what factors would we have to add?
ReplyDeleteCan't social media still bother you though because you know its there? I understand she is much more confident and there are all these stats but can't it still bother her knowing that things are still going on and she could be missing out?
